The Japanese Ambassador to Rwanda Kazuya Ogawa pledged to partner with Rwanda in boosting the country’s social economic development.
The ambassador made the remarks in Kigali during Japan and Rwanda’s 11th annual dialogue, to evaluate the status of ongoing projects and examined new projects for the future.
Kazuya commended the country’s achievements and assured commitment in supporting Japan funded projects.
“This annual policy dialogue is a good platform for exchanging views regarding the cooperation for both governments. We will continue to assist these projects to achieve the 2020 Vision,” said Amb. Kazuya
He also added that the Japanese government will continue to support Japanese companies to invest in Rwanda.
The annual dialogue is assigned to comprehensive and high level discussion on macro-economic policies and issues related to the projects supported by JICA.
The Japanese government supports the project of “Life Empowerment Project through Acquiring High Level Cloth Fabrication Skills” valued at over $700.
Kazuya commended projects such as the construction of Rusumo international bridge and its border post, irrigation scheme development in Ngoma District, public water supply facilities, as well as empowering Tumba College of Technology.
He also pledged to support the construction of the second phase of Kayonza-Rusumo road completing the first phase.
Kazuya received insights on Rwanda’s economy and implementation of EDPRS II and the Follow- up of initiative under TICAD V on Japan’s cooperation programs and Rwanda’s initiative.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry of foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Amb. Jeanine Kambanda expressed interest of mutual partnership between the two countries and promise future cooperation.
“Rwanda values the TICAD initiatives which emphasizes and promotes the principles of global partnership for Africa’s development based on African ownership and Africa – led solutions leading to Africa’s development and achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through trade, investment and cooperation,” said Kambanda.
Rwanda and Japan share an excellent and longstanding bilateral relationship with cooperation that spans from economic to trade and investments, technical assistance and capacity building areas.
The two nations established their diplomatic relations in 1962 and are respectively represented by their resident mission.
