Rwandan youth representative in parliament Philbert Uwiringiyimana, during discussions about the Rwandan Youths matters
The government of Rwanda has praised youth organizations in Rwanda for loads of activities they do and efforts applied to accomplish their tasks.
Philbert Uwiringiyimana, the youth representative in parliament made the remarks during discussions between the National Youth Council and 40 youth organizations on different matters concerning the Rwandan Youth. The discussions were held in Kicukiro district in Kigali, on November 27, 2013.
“You have a great contribution in finding some solutions related to youth issues, and it is through the partnership between you and the Youth Council that the government has to solve the youth problems” Uwiringiyimana said.
The organizations are mostly working to tackle different social problems of youth, some include non government organizations or associations, and faith based groups.
The youth were urged to register their organizations in Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) according to the regulations.
According to the Coordinator of the National Youth Council Shyerezo Norbert, the government has established national employment programme in which different Ministries will be sharing information to address unemployment.
The Youth organizations are the great partners of the National Youth Council in different actions akin-to advocacy, providing financial support to the youth projects especially targeting the economic welfare of Rwandans.
The Youth have raised the problem of employment in the country which affects the lives of young people.
The Executive Secretary of the youth council Nkuranga Alphonse added that Rwanda has started youth employment agenda where the government implements the process of establishing in Rwanda the Technical Vocation Education and Training schools [TVET].
This includes access to finance programme where the youth are being facilitated to know the benefits of working with financial institutions, and then start doing business projects to be implemented through Business Development Fund (BDF) guarantees.
This fiscal year 2013-2014 the National Youth Council is using 118 Million Rwandan Francs to support the activities of youth economic projects among the above 570 Millions of total budget in action Plan.
The participants in this meeting called for the National Youth Council to carry on supporting youth organizations since the problem for them is not the power of thinking, but the implementation of good ideas they hold.
Currently the National Youth Council has partnership with 20 youth organizations but the number will be increased because they are other organizations that will start partnering with the Youth Council.
