Ambassador Cesar pledges support to Rwanda technical education

Rwanda’s Ambassador to Germany Cesar Igor has pledged to draw more development partners in TVET during his diplomatic mission.

He made remarks on June 16, after meeting with WDA top management to discuss TVET in general and projects supported by the Federal Republic of Germany.

After touring TVET training centers, Ambassador Cesar Igor said that Rwanda’s workforce needs to be developed for an expanded market sphere for the region and beyond.

He also stressed the necessity to have big infrastructure projects in training, working with business companies and publicizing success stories in TVET.

Discussions between the Ambassador and WDA management also focused on identifying new training sectors that need support like boat manufacturing, music equipment manufacturing, training in heavy machinery, sewerage system design, Railway studies, wind technology, among other initiatives.

According to the Director in charge of partnership (WDA) Didier Munezero, Germany government through GIZ supports Training of Trainers both in public and private TVET schools, and capacity building of school managers.

Under Germany support Rwanda also received USD 5.5 million and USD 7 million in two phases respectively for construction, rehabilitation and equipping TVET schools.

In May 2014 IPRC East signed a memorandum of understanding with Berufsbildende Schule Germersheim vocational school located in the Rhineland Palatinate, Germany.

This partnership aims at upgrading of technical skills of IPRC East trainers especially in the domains of Automotive and Metal Technology, students exchange, exchange on good practices in vocational training, , among other fields.
